Singing is like a celebration of oxygen. ~Bjork

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM:
Your respiratory system moves air in and out of the lungs. It removes carbon dioxide from the body and delivers oxygen to your blood. Simply, it oxygenates. And think about how important oxygen is. If you have no oxygen, how tired your body is versus if you have a lot of oxygen and you’re breathing well, how alert you are, how energized your organs are. You’ve got to get oxygen out to your body. So this is critical to energizing and strengthening all of your organs. Essential oils can actually help support your body in doing that.

The areas that really make up your respiratory system are your lungs, your nose, your nasal passages, your mouth, and your pharynx, known as your throat, your larynx, your trachea and your bronchi. Studies show that several essential oils have benefits that may be able to directly affect the respiratory tract that reduces the coughing reflex and improve airway in the nasal duct.

Frankincense is the most used oils today and is probably one of the most powerful oils for the brain. I know we are talking respiratory here but …. amazing for immune system support. It has been shown in medical studies to help relax the brain. In fact, it’s been known to help relieve anxiety and help relieve depression. It’s been shown to help mood disorders, poor memory, anxiety, seizures, and alcohol-addictive substance abuse. Also, we know it’s anti-inflammatory. It’s great for the immune system for fighting colds and flus. It’s a meditation aid. And it is one of the top skin oils. It helps smooth the appearance of skin. It is amazing to add to your daily facial moisturizer to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Peppermint is probably the second most commonly used essential oil. And peppermint oil is known for its cooling and numbing properties. It’s great for muscle aches and pains. It’s also great for soothing the respiratory system – opening nasal passages, help with breathing and it’s especially good for the gut.

Eucalyptus is similar to Peppermint in terms of more of its cooling nature and benefits. Eucalyptus oil is the most beneficial oil, hands-down, when talking about anything sinus or upper-respiratory-related or lung-related.   Eucalyptus oil works because it opens the respiratory airways.

Rosemary has a similar effect as a natural decongestant. Plus Rosemary is amazing for clarity – brainpower studies show – I diffuse the combo in my office all of the time ….

Lemon: A natural disinfectant that can fight bacteria and viruses in the home and on the body; boosts the immune system. It is great for congestion, immune support and seasonal allergies. A blend of Peppermint, Lavender & Lemon is known as the allergy trio. Fun Fact: it takes 75 lemons to make 15ml

Marjoram: This oil is used antiseptic and used for calming the respiratory system and assists in relieving spasms and relaxing the muscles. Effective for respiratory system as an expectorant and aids in fluid retention. Diffuser recipe : Marjoram, Cypress, and Lavender.

And my beloved Cedarwood is another great oils to support the respiratory system. It introduces a lot of oxygen into the system!

Two Young Living blends we LOVE — RC and Raven! Both supports a healthy respiratory system. Use them interchangeably. RC is made up of 3 different kinds of Eucalyptus leaf oil, Myrtle, Marjoram, Pine, Lavender, Cypress, Black Spruce and Peppermint oils. Raven contains Ravensara, Lemon, Wintergreen, Peppermint, and Eucalyptus.

One sniff and you’ll know why people don’t want to find themselves without these blends.
